Real Transformation Is Sudden, Like Night at Sunrise

ਰਵਿ ਪ੍ਰਗਾਸ ਰਜਨੀ ਜਥਾ ਗਤਿ ਜਾਨਤ ਸਭ ਸੰਸਾਰ ॥
rav pargaas rajnee jathaa gat jaanat sabh sansaar.
With the rising of the sun, the night is brought to its end; the whole world knows this.
ਪਾਰਸ ਮਾਨੋ ਤਾਬੋ ਛੁਏ ਕਨਕ ਹੋਤ ਨਹੀ ਬਾਰ ॥੫॥
paaras maano taabo chhu-ay kanak hot nahee baar. ||5||
It is believed that with the touch of the Philosopher's Stone, copper is immediately transformed into gold. ||5||

In plain words

When the sun rises, the night is simply gone — everyone can see how that works.

And they say that when the fabled touchstone meets copper, the copper turns to gold in an instant.

Real transformation can be sudden and complete — like night vanishing at sunrise.
The deeper layer

Ravidas shows that real change can happen all at once, completely.

He gives two shining pictures. First, sunrise. When the sun comes up, the dark does not fight the light. It is simply gone. Everyone in the world knows this.

Second, the paaras, a stone from old stories. At its touch, plain copper turns into gold in an instant. Think of flipping on the light in a dark room. You do not wait for the dark to leave little by little.

Both pictures carry the same hopeful message. When the right meeting happens, change can be sudden and whole. Ravidas is getting ready for the next line, where he will say what that magic touchstone really is.

A Question to Sit With

Can you think of a moment when something changed for you all at once, like a light switching on?
