True Wisdom Opens Even the Most Stubborn Doors

ਪਰਮ ਪਰਸ ਗੁਰੁ ਭੇਟੀਐ ਪੂਰਬ ਲਿਖਤ ਲਿਲਾਟ ॥
param paras gur bhaytee-ai poorab likhat lilaat.
When one meets the Supreme Philosopher's Stone, the Guru, if such pre-ordained destiny is written on one's forehead,
ਉਨਮਨ ਮਨ ਮਨ ਹੀ ਮਿਲੇ ਛੁਟਕਤ ਬਜਰ ਕਪਾਟ ॥੬॥
unman man man hee milay chhutkat bajar kapaat. ||6||
then the soul blends with the Supreme Soul, and the stubborn doors are opened wide. ||6||

In plain words

Meet the supreme touchstone, the true teacher, when the moment is ripe, as if written on your forehead.

Then the soul melts into the Great Soul. Doors that once seemed shut swing wide open.

Meeting true wisdom can open even the most stubborn locked doors inside you.
The deeper layer

Ravidas now says the magic touchstone is the Guru, the true teacher.

In the last line, the paaras stone turned copper into gold at a touch. Here the Guru is the param paras, the supreme touchstone. The Guru turns a heart of copper into gold.

When you truly meet that teaching, and the time is right, something wonderful happens. The verse says it is "written on the forehead," which means the moment is ripe and ready. Then the soul melts into the Great Soul, the One.

And the bajar kapaat, the heavy locked doors, swing open. These are the hard, shut places inside us. Picture a door you have pushed on for years, and suddenly it opens by itself.

This is the sunrise from the last line, made personal. Meeting real wisdom, the heart's shut doors open all at once.

A Question to Sit With

Who or what has helped open a "locked door" inside you — some understanding you couldn't reach alone?
