Verse 2 of 5

Even the Seeker Prays for True Company

ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਸਤਸੰਗਤਿ ਮੇਲਾਇ ॥
gobind satsangat maylaa-ay.
O Lord of the Universe, unite me with the Sat Sangat, the True Congregation.
ਹਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਰਸਨਾ ਰਾਮ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
har ras rasnaa raam gun gaa-ay. ||1|| rahaa-o.
My tongue savors the sublime essence of the Lord, singing the Lord's Glorious Praises. ||1||Pause||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

O One, join me to the true gathering. There my tongue tastes your sweetness as I sing your praises.

Even the seeker prays to be placed in true company -- that is where the sweetness is tasted.
The deeper layer

The Rahao is a prayer for Sangat -- Ram Das does not assume he can practice alone; he asks to be united with the company. The fruit is Har Ras -- the tongue tasting the essence in shared song.

A Question to Sit With

What is something you can only really do well together with others?
