O Master, You are my Banker. I receive only that capital which You give me.

I would purchase the Lord's Name with love, if You Yourself, in Your Mercy, would sell it to me. ||1||
Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
You are my banker; I can only trade with the capital you hand me. I would buy your Name with all my love, if in your mercy you would sell it to me.
We trade only with capital the One lends us -- even the Name is bought by grace.
The merchant theology of Mehl 4 (cf. the merchant shabads elsewhere): the One is the banker and the soul a trader working on loaned capital. Even the wish to buy the Name depends on the One choosing to sell -- grace at every step (Naam).
A Question to Sit With
What in your life is really "capital on loan" rather than something you made?
