Those traders who trade in other merchandise, are caught up in the endless waves of the pain of Maya.

According to the business in which the Lord has placed them, so are the rewards they obtain. ||3||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Those who trade in anything else are tossed in the endless waves of the world's pain. Whatever line of business the One has placed them in, that is the reward they get.

Trade in anything but the Name, and you are tossed on the waves of the world's pain.
The deeper layer

The dark mirror: trading in other merchandise (worldly gain) means being tossed on the waves of Maya's pain. And honestly held Hukam: the One places each in their trade, and the rewards follow (Karma). What you deal in determines what you reap.

A Question to Sit With

What "trade" tends to leave you tossed and restless rather than at peace?
