Surrender and the World Loses Its Grip

apunay har parabh kee ha-o golee.
I am the maid-servant of my Lord God.
jab ham har saytee man maani-aa kar deeno jagat sabh gol amolee. ||1|| rahaa-o.
When my mind surrendered to the Lord, He made all the world my slave. ||1||Pause||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

I am the One's humble servant. When my mind finally surrendered to the One, the whole world came to serve me.

Surrender to the One, and the world that ruled you loses its grip.
The deeper layer

The Rahao states a paradox of surrender: becoming the One's servant makes the world your servant. When you stop being ruled by the world (by surrendering to the One), the world loses its power over you -- it "serves" you because it no longer masters you (Sahaj).

A Question to Sit With

Have you noticed that letting go of needing something can give you a strange freedom around it?
