I am foolish and ignorant, and my intellect is impure. Through the Teachings of the Guru, the True Guru, O Lord, I come to know You. ||1||Pause||
Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
I hold the true teacher as the highest, my One. I am foolish, and my thinking is unclean -- but through the teaching, I come to know you.
Through the teaching, even a foolish, clouded mind comes to know the One.
The Rahao: the Guru honored as the Supreme (the Guru and the One are not separate for Ram Das, cf. the Mehl 3 close). The humble foolishness is the condition that the teaching meets and transforms into knowing.
