All the pleasures and enjoyments which I have seen - I have found them all to be bland and insipid.

I have tasted the Ambrosial Nectar of the Naam, the Name of the Lord, by meeting the True Guru. It is sweet, like the juice of the sugarcane. ||2||
Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
Every pleasure I have ever known, I have found flat and tasteless. But meeting the teacher, I tasted the nectar of the Name -- sweet, like the juice of sugarcane.
Having tasted the Name, the speaker finds every pleasure he has known flat by comparison.
The taste contrast at its clearest: the speaker has found every pleasure he has seen insipid next to the nectar of the Name, sweet as sugarcane (cf. the lotus-and-cane shabad). Having tasted the real sweetness, he finds the imitations have lost their flavor.
A Question to Sit With
Have you ever tasted something so good that lesser versions no longer satisfied?
