Servant Nanak chants the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, Har. He is famous, and through the Guru's Teachings, He merges in the Name. ||4||4||18||56||
Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
Those you have met are devoted to your service. And keeping the One's name, the servant becomes known, and through the teaching, melts into the Name.
Those grace meets are given to service -- and melt, at last, into the Name.
The close: those the One meets (grace) are committed to service. The Name brings true renown (honor in the Court, not worldly fame) and final merger. The shabad ends, as all Mehl 4 does, in absorption into the Name.
A Question to Sit With
What kind of "renown" actually matters to you?
