Verse 2 of 5

Fix Love on the Teacher and Praise Turns Sweet

ਰਾਮ ਹਰਿ ਕੀਰਤਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਲਿਵ ਮੀਠਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
raam har keertan gur liv meethaa. ||1|| rahaa-o.
Lovingly focused upon the Guru, the Kirtan of the Lord's Praise has become sweet to me. ||1||Pause||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

With my love fixed on the teacher, singing the One's praises has turned sweet to me.

When love is fixed on the teacher, praise itself turns sweet.
The deeper layer

The Rahao: love focused on the Guru makes praise-song sweet. Sweetness is the sign that love has taken root -- praise stops being duty and becomes delight.

A Question to Sit With

What activity turned from a chore into a delight once you loved it?
