Within this body-fortress is the Lord, the Sovereign Lord King, but the stubborn ones do not find the taste.

When the Lord, Merciful to the meek, showed His Mercy, I found and tasted it, through the Word of the Guru's Shabad. ||1||

In plain words

Inside the fortress of your body lives the One, the sovereign -- but the stubborn never find the taste of it. When the merciful One showed me mercy, I found it and tasted it, through the Word.

The sovereign One lives inside your own body -- but the stubborn miss its taste, which comes by grace.
The deeper layer

The body-fortress houses the King -- the One within (cf. the jewel within, the home within). The stubborn (self-facing) miss the taste (Har Ras); the soft-hearted, by grace, find and taste it through the Shabad (Gurprasad).

A Question to Sit With

What might keep you from "tasting" something good that is right inside you?
