My Lord and Master is the Perfect True Guru. My mind works to serve the Guru.

I massage and wash the Feet of the Guru, who recites the Sermon of the Lord. ||2||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

My master is the perfect true teacher; my mind longs to serve the teacher. I would press and wash the teacher's feet, the teacher who speaks the One's word to me.

Devotion is humble and concrete -- gladly serving the one who speaks the Word.
The deeper layer

Humble, embodied service -- washing the Guru's feet (cf. the dust of the feet). Service is concrete and lowly, and the Guru is the one who recites the Sermon (the Word). Devotion expressed in physical humility.

A Question to Sit With

What humble act of service have you offered, or received, that meant a lot?
