Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Know that the One is always close. Accept its order as true. Through the teaching, clear out the selfishness and pride. And keep the One's name in mind.

The One is near -- accept its order, clear the ego, and keep its name.
The deeper layer

The close gathers Guru Arjan's keynotes: the One near, the Hukam accepted as true, ego eradicated, the Name chanted. Four simple instructions that together are the whole path: nearness, acceptance, ego-clearing, remembrance.

A Question to Sit With

Which of these four -- trusting nearness, accepting what is, clearing ego, remembering -- is hardest for you?
