In plain words

Think of your mind as a temple and your body as the wall built around it. Inside that temple lives something beyond measure — an endless treasure.

A great merchant is said to dwell right there, within you. So the real question becomes: who is the trader wise enough to do business there?

The greatest treasure isn't out there somewhere — it lives inside you.
The deeper layer

A striking image: man mandar tan saajee baar — the mind is a temple, the body its fence; within dwells basat apaar (infinite substance) and the saahu (great merchant). The closing question — kavan baapaaree jaa kaa oohaa visaahu — who is the trader who deals there? — launches the shabad's central metaphor: the divine treasure is inside, and the seeking is really an inward trade. The temple-within-the-body is a gentle, wonder-filled way to say the sacred is not elsewhere.

A Question to Sit With

If something precious lived inside you already, how would you go looking for it?
