Those who speak the One's praises grow pure. Those who listen to them are made clean too. Singing day after day, the goodness spreads between people.
Whenever the One is kind, every honest effort a person makes is carried through and fulfilled.
Guru Arjan ends by saying that goodness spreads: both the one who speaks it and the one who hears it grow.
Kahat pavitar sunat puneet — those who speak are made pure, and those who hear are made clean. Gun govind gaavahi nit neet — they sing the praises of the One, day after day.
So the goodness is shared. It moves between people, like a candle lighting another candle without losing its own flame.
Then, jaa ka-u hohu kirpaal, tis jan kee sabh pooran ghaal. When the One is kirpaal, kind, all of that person's ghaal, their hard work, is carried through and fulfilled. The success of our effort is a gift of kindness, of grace. It is not a prize we earn by being good enough.
How does something good you say ripple out and change both you and whoever hears it?
