Let Love Gather Around One True Thing

ਜਨ ਊਪਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਏ ਦਇਆਲ ॥
jan oopar parabh bha-ay da-i-aal.
God has become merciful to His humble servant.
ਜਨ ਕੀ ਟੇਕ ਏਕ ਗੋਪਾਲ ॥
jan kee tayk ayk gopaal.
The One Lord of the Universe is the Support of His humble servants.
ਏਕਾ ਲਿਵ ਏਕੋ ਮਨਿ ਭਾਉ ॥
aykaa liv ayko man bhaa-o.
They love the One Lord; their minds are filled with love for the Lord.
ਸਰਬ ਨਿਧਾਨ ਜਨ ਕੈ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਉ ॥੩॥
sarab niDhaan jan kai har naa-o. ||3||
The Name of the Lord is all treasures for them. ||3||

In plain words

The One has grown tender toward the humble heart that serves. For such a person, the One alone is their support and their leaning-place.

All their love flows toward the One, their mind filled with a single warmth. And the Name becomes, for them, every treasure there is.

When your love gathers around one true thing, that becomes your whole treasure.
The deeper layer

This one says: let all your love gather around one true center.

jan oopar parabh bha-ay da-i-aal — the One has become kind to its humble servant. Jan means a humble, serving heart.

jan kee tayk ayk gopaal — that person leans on the One alone. Tayk means support, something you lean on. Gopaal is a name for the One who looks after the whole world.

Then aykaa liv ayko man bhaa-o — one focus, one love in the mind. Think of sunlight through a magnifying glass. Spread out, it is only warm. Gathered to one spot, it glows.

Last, sarab niDhaan jan kai har naa-o — for such a person, the Name is every treasure. It is worth more than all wealth.

A Question to Sit With

What would it feel like to love one thing so fully that it colored everything else?
