The Name in the Heart Is Every Treasure

ਜਾ ਕੈ ਹਿਰਦੈ ਦੀਓ ਗੁਰਿ ਨਾਮਾ ॥
jaa kai hirdai dee-o gur naamaa.
Those whose hearts are filled with the Lord's Name by the Guru
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਤਾ ਕੈ ਸਗਲ ਨਿਧਾਨਾ ॥੪॥੩੪॥੧੦੩॥
kaho naanak taa kai sagal niDhaanaa. ||4||34||103||
- says Nanak, all treasures come to them. ||4||34||103||

In plain words

Those whose hearts the teaching has filled with the Name — every treasure worth having is already theirs.

The Name placed in the heart is itself every treasure worth having.
The deeper layer

This one says the Name placed in your heart is every treasure worth having.

Jaa kai hirdai dee-o gur naamaa — those whose hearts the Guru has filled with the Name. Kaho naanak taa kai sagal nidhaanaa — says Nanak, all treasures are theirs. Nidhaanaa means treasures.

This line gathers up the whole shabad. The steady heart, the easy joy, the freedom from worry, the freedom from fear: each one is a side of this one gift. Think of a diamond. Turn it, and a different face catches the light, but it is still one stone.

The treasure was never somewhere else. It was placed inside.

A Question to Sit With

If someone "had everything" on the inside, what do you think that would actually look like?
