Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
The One is neither hot nor cold.
The One has no enemy and no stranger.
The One is not swept up in gladness or pulled down by sorrow.
Everything belongs to the One, and the One can do anything.
The One holds no enemies and no strangers — and stays steady through everything.
The 'not-this, not-that' continues, and it carries a quiet teaching. Naa is dusman naa is meet — the One has no enemy and no stranger: it does not take sides against anyone, which is why nirvair (without enmity) sits in the very opening creed of Sikhi. Beyond harakh and sog (elation and grief), the One is perfectly steady — the sahaj, unshaken evenness that the aligned heart begins to share.
A Question to Sit With
What helps you stay steady when a day swings between good news and bad?
