In plain words

The One's presence is the ground my heart stands on.

Singing the One's praises is the truest work I can do.

Please fill the quiet hopes of the ones who love You.

I find peace in the humble dust of good company.

The truest work you can do is praise — and the deepest peace is humble ground.
The deeper layer

The closing verse rests the whole life on the One: charan kamal jan kaa aadhaar — the One's presence is the ground one stands on. Singing praise is called sach vaapaar, the true trade — the one form of business whose profit lasts. The final line, jan dhoor (the dust of the humble), is Guru Arjan's recurring signature: the deepest peace is found not in being lifted above others but in the humble ground of good, loving company.

A Question to Sit With

Where do you find real peace — in standing above others, or in being among good people?
