In plain words

The Guide is the One who holds the whole world.

The Guide keeps those who love the One safe.

The guide who holds the whole world is the One who keeps you safe.
The deeper layer

The rahau fuses guide and One into one saving presence: gur gobind guroo gopaal — the Guru is the Lord of the world, the two inseparable. Apnay daas ka-o raakhanhaar — the keeper of those who take shelter. This is the note the whole eight-verse hymn returns to: the Guide who protects. Everything that follows — about ill-will and its undoing — rests on this steady promise of safety.

A Question to Sit With

What makes you trust someone enough to feel safe following their lead?
