Held Safe Here And Everywhere

ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਧਿਆਇ ਨਾਮੁ ਹਰਿ ਜਪਨਾ ॥
mayray man an-din Dhi-aa-ay naam har japnaa.
O my mind, night and day, meditate, and chant the Lord's Name.

jahaa kahaa tujh raakhai sabh thaa-ee so aisaa parabh sayv sadaa too apnaa. ||1|| rahaa-o.
Here and hereafter, He shall protect you, everywhere; serve such a God forever. ||1||Pause||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

O my mind, night and day, let the Name turn quietly inside you.

Here and everywhere, the One keeps you safe — so keep such a One close as your very own.

The One who keeps you safe is not only here or only there — but everywhere.
The deeper layer

The rahau. Jahaa kahaa ... sabh thaa-ee — here, there, in every place — the One's protection has no borders. To 'serve such a God forever' is an invitation to make the One your own (apnaa): not a distant power, but a belonging.

A Question to Sit With

Where do you feel safest, and could you carry that feeling with you?
