Remembering the Lord in meditation, you shall find bliss and peace forever deep within, and your mind will become tranquil and cool.

It is like the harsh sun of Maya, with its burning heat; seeing the moon, the Guru, its heat totally vanishes. ||1||

When I hold the One in my remembering, a steady bliss opens inside me and my mind turns calm and cool.
It is like a fierce, scorching sun suddenly meeting the gentle moon — and all that burning heat simply melts away.
Remembering the One cools an overheated mind the way the moon cools the night.
Guru Ram Das paints simran (loving remembrance) as a temperature change in the mind: saant seetal — peaceful and cool. The image is of the harsh sun of Maya (the restless, grasping world) cooled by the moon of the Guru's presence. It is not that effort is scorned; it is that remembrance does something striving cannot — it cools.
