A Heart That Forgets Stays Restless

One who does not remember the Lord - let him burn;

tan man ramat rahai meh khaytai. ||1|| rahaa-o.
his body and mind have remained absorbed in this field of the world. ||1||Pause||

In plain words

A heart that never turns to the One stays parched and restless, no matter what it gathers.

Lost only in the field of getting and spending, it never quite cools down or finds its rest.

A heart that forgets the One stays restless on its own — remembrance is what cools it.
The deeper layer

The rahau's literal line is fierce — 'let the one who forgets burn.' Here it is turned toward its true meaning: a heart that forgets the One doesn't get punished from outside; it simply stays scorched and restless on its own, lost in the khayt, the field of worldly busyness. The remedy isn't fear; it's remembrance, which cools the heart down.

A Question to Sit With

What actually helps your mind feel calm and cool when it's running hot and restless?
