The Lord, the Lord of the Universe is the Beloved of the minds of those who join the Sat Sangat, the True Congregation. The Shabad of His Word fascinates their minds.

Chant, and meditate on the Lord, the Lord of the Universe; God is the One who gives gifts to all. ||1||
Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
The One is the beloved of the minds that gather in true company; the Word of the teaching enchants them.
Sing and think on the One — the giver who hands out gifts to every single being.
Real devotion feels less like duty and more like being enchanted — pulled toward something beautiful.
Ram Das opens on the delight of the Sat Sangat: minds gathered together fall in love, "fascinated" by the Word. Devotion here is not grim duty but enchantment — the pull of something beautiful. And the One is introduced as the universal Giver, "who gives gifts to all" — not to a chosen few. The tone of the whole shabad is set: joy, company, and a generosity that leaves no one out.
