Raag Goojaree
The Commentary
Goojaree begins with Guru Nanak taking the largest ruler the old cosmology owned — the creator-god Brahma, born of the world-lotus, singing the Vedas in a flawless voice — and showing it cannot reach the One (P0). From that humbling comes the Pause line's pivot: stop measuring, start loving; the Beloved is the support of your very breath (P1). The middle verses relocate everything inward — sun and moon are mere lamps of one ego-dissolving light (P2); even famous meditators stay at war until an inner light settles them (P3) — before the close turns un-measurability from Brahma's frustration into the soul's safety: what cannot be grasped can still be merged into, by mercy (P4).
