Empire or Begging Doesn't Touch the One Who Has the One

In plain words

If You handed me an empire, what real glory would that add to me?

And if You had me beg for my bread, what would that really take away?

When your real treasure is the One, being handed an empire or reduced to begging doesn't touch the core of you.
The deeper layer

Naam Dayv opens with a stunning equanimity: neither an empire nor a beggar's bowl changes his real worth. "What glory" would a kingdom add; "what would it take away" to beg? His true wealth is elsewhere, untouched by fortune's ups and downs. This is freedom from the tyranny of circumstance — when your treasure is the One, being raised up or brought low doesn't touch the core of you.

A Question to Sit With

How much of your sense of worth rides on your circumstances going up or down? What would it be to unhook it?
