Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
Mother, without the teaching, real wisdom doesn't come.
People wander, weeping and crying out in all sorts of ways, but the One does not meet them.
Sincerity alone isn't enough — heartfelt effort in the wrong direction still doesn't arrive; wisdom is the missing ingredient.
The Pause line is honest about a painful truth: much sincere seeking — "weeping and crying out in various ways" — still doesn't find the One, because it lacks the teaching's wisdom. Sincerity alone isn't enough; effort in the wrong direction, however heartfelt, doesn't arrive. The missing ingredient is the wisdom that only the teaching supplies.
A Question to Sit With
Where might sincere effort of yours be missing the wisdom that would let it land?
