There is One Creator of all, known by the True Guru's grace.
I dance — and I make my mind dance too.
By grace, I clear out the pride of thinking I'm a separate, special self.
The one who keeps their attention on the One is free, and their heart's wishes come true.
The truest dance starts by setting down your pride.
Guru Amar Das, the third Guru, takes the old picture of holy dancing and turns it inward. Nirat karee ih man nachaa-ee — I dance, and I make this mind dance too. The dance is not only feet moving at a festival. It is a mind moved by love.
The first step of this dance is surprising. Gur parsaadee aap gavaa-ee — by the Guru's grace, I let go of my self-importance. This dance begins by putting down the dancer's pride. Think of a kid dancing in the kitchen, not caring who sees. Chit thir raakhai so mukat hovai — whoever keeps their mind steady on the One is set free. This dance is not a show. It is freedom, moving.
When have you been so moved by something good that you felt like dancing — not for show, but from the inside?
