One who has found the Lord God through the True Guru, has made the Lord seem so sweet to me, through the His Teachings.

My mind and body have been cooled and soothed, and totally rejuvenated; by great good fortune, I meditate on the Name of the Lord. ||1||

In plain words

The one who found the One through the true teaching made the One taste sweet to me, through what they shared.

My mind and body were cooled and soothed and made new again; by great good luck, I hold the Name in mind.

The best teachers don't hand you doctrine — they make the good taste sweet, and pass the sweetness on.
The deeper layer

The shabad opens on the gift of a guide who has arrived — someone who "found the Lord" and then made that Lord "seem so sweet to me." Sweetness is transmitted person to person. The effect is bodily: "cooled and soothed and totally rejuvenated" — the felt relief of a feverish mind finally at rest. Ram Das credits it to "great good fortune," keeping even this to grace. The best teachers don't hand you doctrine; they make the good taste sweet.

A Question to Sit With

Who made something good feel *sweet* to you rather than just correct? How did they do it?
