Servant Nanak chants the Glorious Words of the Guru's Bani; through them, one is absorbed into the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||4||5||

In plain words

If the kind Master shows his kindness, the One folds the teaching-faced one into himself.

Nanak sings the glorious words of the teaching — and through them a person is absorbed into the Name.

The whole movement of devotion is down into humility and then in toward merger — carried by grace.
The deeper layer

The close returns, as the block always does, to grace and merger — "if God, the Kind Master, Himself shows His kindness." Everything hinges on that if, held not anxiously but trustingly. And the last line names the vehicle: Gurbani, the words of the teaching, sung — through which a person is "absorbed into the Naam." The shabad that began by begging friends for the Name ends by singing it, and being dissolved into it. The whole movement is down (in humility) and then in (to merger).

A Question to Sit With

What does it look like to go 'down' in humility and 'in' toward what you love, at the same time?
