You shall attain salvation, peace, poise and bliss, and the noose of Death shall be cut away. ||1||Pause||
Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
Say the One's Name, and earn the real profit.
You'll find freedom, peace, poise and bliss, and the grip of death will be cut.
Remembrance is the one investment with a guaranteed, permanent yield — freedom, peace, poise, bliss.
The Pause line frames remembrance as sound business — "earn the profit" — with a rich return: freedom, peace, poise, bliss, and release from death's grip. The raag's commercial imagery makes devotion practical: this is the one investment with a guaranteed, permanent yield. Say the Name, and the profit is these things that money cannot buy.
A Question to Sit With
If you invested attention the way you invest money, where would the best 'return' actually be?
