The fickle mind is tangled up in a dream.
It won't even grasp this much — that someday it must leave; it has gone crazy with the glitter.
A mind can be so intoxicated by the passing show that it forgets the obvious — that it's temporary; naming the dream is how the sleeper stirs.
The Pause line diagnoses a mind "entangled in a dream" — living as if the passing show were permanent, unable to grasp "that someday he shall have to depart." "Crazy with Maya" names the intoxication that makes a person forget the obvious. The whole shabad is a gentle attempt to wake the dreamer — not by frightening, but by naming the dream as a dream so the sleeper might stir.
A Question to Sit With
Where might you be living as if something temporary were permanent? What would 'waking' from that look like?
