False is the love of the false one; break the ties, O my mind, and your ties shall be broken. Break your ties with the faithless cynic. ||1||Pause||

In plain words

Turn away, my mind, turn away — turn away from the faithless and cynical.

False is the love of the false; break those ties, my mind, and you'll be free of them.

Some bonds are worth breaking for the heart's sake — ties to the corrosively cynical quietly drag it down.
The deeper layer

The Pause line is urgent counsel about company: "turn away from the faithless cynic" whose "love is false." This is not contempt for persons but discernment about influence — ties to the corrosively cynical drag a heart down. The repeated "turn away" is a call to actively step back from what erodes your faith and hope. Some bonds are worth breaking for the sake of the heart.

A Question to Sit With

Is there a corrosive influence you'd be freer without? What would gently 'turning away' look like?
