Without the One's Name, even the outwardly beautiful are missing what matters most.
Like a name that carries no honor behind it, beauty without the Name has nothing real to stand on.
This line says that looking good on the outside is not enough without the One inside.
It is the rahaa-o, the "pause" line, the center of the shabad (hymn). Har kay naam binaa sundar hai naktee — without the Name, even beautiful people are like "the noseless ones." In old times, a cut nose was a sign of shame. The verse also compares such a life to a child whose name carries no honor.
These old pictures make one point. Beauty or status without the Name is empty inside. It is missing the one thing that gives a life its worth.
Think of a big, shiny birthday box with nothing inside. It looks like everything, but it holds nothing. A life that looks impressive but has no remembering of the One has no real ground under it.
What 'surface' achievement might feel hollow without something deeper beneath it?
