ਕਿਸੁ ਹਉ ਸੇਵੀ ਕਿਸੁ ਆਰਾਧੀ ਜੋ ਦਿਸਟੈ ਸੋ ਗਾਛੈ ॥
kis ha-o sayvee kis aaraaDhee jo distai so gaachhai.
Whom should I serve? Whom should I worship in adoration? Whoever I see shall pass away.
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਕੀ ਸਰਨੀ ਪਰੀਐ ਚਰਣ ਰੇਨੁ ਮਨੁ ਬਾਛੈ ॥੧॥
saaDhsangat kee sarnee paree-ai charan rayn man baachhai. ||1||
I have sought the Sanctuary of the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy; my mind longs for the dust of their Feet. ||1||

Whom shall I serve, whom worship? Everyone I see will pass away.
So I've come to the shelter of good company; my mind longs for the dust of their feet.
The impermanence of everything else is exactly what points you to the one thing worth serving that lasts.
The verse reasons its way to the One: since "whoever I see shall pass away," no passing thing is worth ultimate service. Only the One, and the company of those devoted to it, deserves the heart's worship. The impermanence of everything else is precisely what points to the one thing that lasts.
