Nanak says: only those swim across who, by grace, join the company of the good.
We cross the hard path not by our own strength alone, but by grace, with good company.
Kaho naanak — Nanak says. Tin bhavjal taree-alay — they swim across the scary ocean of the world. Who are they? Those who, parabh kirpaa, by the One's kindness, join sant sangaar, the company of the good and holy.
The last verse said letting go of pride and "mine" is like walking a sword's edge. That is too hard for one person pushing on their own. Think of a long hike up a steep hill. Alone, you might give up. With friends beside you, and someone who knows the way, you reach the top.
What no lone striver can do on the sword's edge, grace and the Sangat, the company of the good, make possible.
What impossibly hard inner change might become possible with grace and the right company?
