In plain words

Riches, powers, and wealth all sit in the palm of Your hand. Life of the world, Master of all, endless is Your Name.

Show kindness and mercy to Nanak; hearing Your praises, I live.

Everything sought elsewhere already rests in the One's hand — so the devotee simply lives on hearing its praises.
The deeper layer

Everything people chase already rests in the One's hand. riDh siDh niDh kar tal — riches, powers and wealth sit in the palm of Your hand.

Think of kids hunting all over the house for a birthday present, while Mom holds it the whole time. The shabad ends on the simplest kind of need. sun sun jas jeevaa-o — hearing Your praises, I live.

For someone who has stopped chasing, the Name becomes like breath. The things they once ran after were in the One's hand all along.

A Question to Sit With

What are you chasing that might already rest in caring hands, freeing you to simply live on gratitude?
