Sikhism·Raag Goojaree·Shabad 21
Verse 4 of 5

There's No Elsewhere for What Fills Every Place

The all-pervading Lord is fully filling all places; why should I go anywhere else?
ਘਟ ਘਟ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਸਰਬ ਨਿਰੰਤਰਿ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਵਿਓ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤਾ ॥੩॥
ghat ghat antar sarab nirantar rang ravi-o rang raataa. ||3||
He is permeating and pervading within each and every heart; I am immersed in His Love, dyed in the color of His Love. ||3||

In plain words

The One fills every place completely — so why would I go looking anywhere else?

The One soaks through every heart there is; I'm steeped in that love, dyed in its color.

There's no 'elsewhere' to search for what fills every place and every heart — including the one nearest you.
The deeper layer

The One fills every place, so there is nowhere else to go looking.

Pooran poor rahi-o sarab thaa-ee — the One fully fills every place. Ghat ghat antar — the One is inside each and every heart. This is why the last verse could see the same One in everyone. The One really is there, in every heart.

So why go looking anywhere else? It is like hunting all over the house for your glasses while they sit on your head. There is no "somewhere else" to search. The Beloved fills right here. So the answer is not travel. It is soaking in. Rang ravi-o rang raataa — I am soaked in the One's love, dyed in its color.

A Question to Sit With

If what you're seeking already fills the room you're in, how would that change your searching?
