I give myself over, again and again and again, to Your feet; here and beyond, Yours is the only power.
In good company Nanak has seen You; my debts to everyone else are cancelled.
The close answers the orphan's cry with total belonging. The fourfold "sacrifice" ("a sacrifice, a sacrifice...") is love's stammer, unable to say it enough. And the resolution is striking: having found the One "in the Saadh Sangat," "my obligations to all others are annulled." This does not mean abandoning people; it means the anxious ledger of what-I-owe-and-am-owed with the world is cleared — the desperate transactions of a life trying to secure itself through others end when the one real security is found. Free of that ledger, love becomes generous rather than needy.
How might your relationships change if you no longer needed people to be your security?
