The One Is the Companion Through and Beyond Your People

ਮਾਤ ਪਿਤਾ ਸੁਤ ਮੀਤ ਭਾਈ ਤਿਸੁ ਬਿਨਾ ਨਹੀ ਕੋਇ ॥
maat pitaa sut meet bhaa-ee tis binaa nahee ko-ay.
Mother, father, children, friends and siblings - without the Lord, none of them are real.
ਈਤ ਊਤ ਜੀਅ ਨਾਲਿ ਸੰਗੀ ਸਰਬ ਰਵਿਆ ਸੋਇ ॥੨॥
eet oot jee-a naal sangee sarab ravi-aa so-ay. ||2||
Here and hereafter, He is the companion of the soul; He is pervading everywhere. ||2||

In plain words

Mother, father, children, friends, brothers and sisters — without the One, none of them are finally real.

Here and beyond, the One is the soul's companion, filling every place.

The One is the companion in and through your people and beyond them — love them fully, and lean on what stays.
The deeper layer

This line says the One is our friend who stays with us everywhere, through our family and beyond them.

Maat pitaa sut meet bhaa-ee — mother, father, children, friends, brothers and sisters. Tis binaa nahee ko-ay — without the One, none of them is our final support. This does not mean people don't matter. They matter a lot.

The second line explains it. Eet oot jee-a naal sangee — here and beyond, the One is the soul's companion, sarab ravi-aa so-ay, filling every place. So the One is inside the people we love, and also beyond them.

Think of the sky over your house. It is above your family at dinner, and it is still above you when you travel far away. The people we love can't come with us everywhere. The One can. Love your people with your whole heart, and lean on the One who is in them and always stays.

A Question to Sit With

How might you love people more freely if you weren't asking them to be the thing that stays forever?
