Your Small Will Lives Safely Inside One Supreme Will

ਸਿਧਨ ਮਹਿ ਤੇਰੀ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸਿਧਾ ਕਰਮਨ ਸਿਰਿ ਕਰਮਾ ॥
siDhan meh tayree parabh siDhaa karman sir karmaa.
Among spiritual powers, Yours, O God, are the Spiritual Powers. Among actions, Yours are the Greatest Actions.
ਆਗਿਆ ਮਹਿ ਤੇਰੀ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਆਗਿਆ ਹੁਕਮਨ ਸਿਰਿ ਹੁਕਮਾ ॥੭॥
aagi-aa meh tayree parabh aagi-aa hukman sir hukmaa. ||7||
Among wills, Your Will, God, is the Supreme Will. Of commands, Yours is the Supreme Command. ||7||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Among powers, Yours are the Powers. Among deeds, Yours are the greatest Deeds.

Among wills, Your Will is supreme. Of all commands, Yours is the highest Command.

Above every power and deed stands one supreme Will — and your small will lives safely inside it.
The deeper layer

The litany peaks at will and command — "Your Will, God, is the Supreme Will." This is the crown of the list: above every power and every deed stands the One's hukam, the ordering Will that all other wills finally serve. After topping every human category, the litany arrives at the One thing that governs them all — not a bigger power among powers, but the Will within which every power operates. To recognize this is to relax: your small will lives inside a supreme one, and that is a safe place to be.

A Question to Sit With

Does it steady you to think your will operates inside a larger, wiser one, rather than all alone?
