O Merciful to the meek, perfectly blissful Lord, I beg for the dust of the feet of the Holy. ||4||

In plain words

Remember the almighty One every moment; rest in the effortless peace of the One's presence.

Merciful to the meek, perfectly blissful One — I beg for the dust of the feet of the good.

Aim your love at the highest, and gladly take the lowest seat among the good — that's the shape of true devotion.
The deeper layer

Remember the One every moment, and ask for the humblest place among good people.

Simar samrath pal mahoorat — remember the Almighty every moment, every instant. That is the practice.

Then comes the feeling it grows in: sahj samaaDh. Sahj means easy and natural. SamaaDh means being fully taken up in the One. It is not a hard, forced trance. It is like a child so happily lost in drawing that they forget the time.

The verse ends with the raag's favorite humble ask. Jaachee-ai raj saaDh — I beg for the dust of the feet of the holy ones. After calling on such a mighty One, the speaker does not ask to be great. He asks for the lowest seat among good people.

Think of a new player on a great team who is glad just to carry the water bottles. That is the shape of true devotion here: aim your love at the highest, and gladly take the lowest place.

A Question to Sit With

Where might taking the humblest place among good people actually be exactly where you want to be?
