If only the Master would come to meet me! O Nanak, I would then obtain all the true comforts. ||1||

In plain words

The pincers of separation are so hard to bear.

If only the Master would come to meet me! Nanak says, then I would have every true comfort.

You only ache for what you love — so even the pain of separation is a form of love, turned toward the reunion that would heal it.
The deeper layer

A raw Shalok of longing — "the pincers of separation" is a fierce image for the pain of distance from the One. Goojaree is the raag of separation, and here the ache is not softened: it hurts like being gripped by pincers. But even the pain is a form of love — you only ache for what you love — and the whole comfort waits in one reunion: "if only the Master would come." The longing itself is turned toward the meeting that would heal it.

A Question to Sit With

Is there an ache in you that is really a sign of how much you love something?
