The Tears of Resistance Dry When You Stop Fighting Reality
Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
As is Your ordering Will, so things happen.
Wherever You keep me, there I go and stand. By loving Your Name I wash away my wrongness. Remembering You always, Formless One, my doubts and fears leave. Those tuned to Your love aren't trapped in the circling. Inside and out, they see the one One. Those who recognize Your Command never weep. Nanak says: they are given the gift of the Name, woven into the fabric of their minds.
The eighteenth Pauree is a meditation on accepting hukam: "Wherever You keep me, there I go and stand." This is deep trust — being content to be placed wherever the One places you, rather than fighting your circumstances. And its fruit is striking: "Those who recognize the Lord's Command never weep." Not because they feel no pain, but because they have stopped fighting reality; the tears of resistance dry up when the Will is accepted. The Name is "woven into the fabric" of such a mind — not added on, but part of the weave.
Where are you fighting your circumstances? What would 'wherever You keep me, there I stand' feel like?
