Remembering the Great Giver again and again, the heart's wishes come true.
The mind's hopes and desires are fulfilled, and sorrows are forgotten. I found the treasure of the Name I searched so long for. My light merged into the Light, and my labors are over. I live now in a house of peace, poise and bliss. My coming and going has ended — no birth, no death there. Master and servant have become one, with no sense of separation. By grace, Nanak is absorbed in the True One.
The Vaar closes on union and rest. The long search ends — "I have searched for it for so long" — in "a house of peace, poise and bliss" (sukh, sahj, anand). And the final image dissolves the last distance: "the Master and the servant have become one, with no sense of separation." Goojaree, the raag of separation, ends its great Fifth Mehl Vaar in the disappearance of separation itself — the drop merged in the Light, the labors over, the two become one. The closing "Sudh" seals it: complete.
What would it feel like for the sense of separation — the labor of being a separate, anxious self — to simply end in rest?
