The Deepest Sign of Peace: a Mind That Can Sleep

No one can erase the actions of God; I cannot see any other like Him.
kaho naanak tis gur balihaaree jih parsaad sukh so-ee-ai. ||2||2||
Says Nanak, I am a sacrifice to the Guru; by His Grace, I sleep in peace. ||2||2||

In plain words

No one can undo the One's doings; I see no other like it.

Nanak says: I give myself to the teaching, and by grace I sleep in peace.

The deepest sign of a mind that has stopped fighting reality is simple: it can sleep in peace.
The deeper layer

A mind that trusts can sleep in peace.

The last verse told of life's swings. This one rests them on the One who never changes. ko-ay na maytai parabh kaa kee-aa — no one can undo what God does.

The shabad ends with a simple, homey peace. jih parsaad sukh so-ee-ai — by the Guru's grace, I sleep in peace. Think of a child in the back seat on a long drive at night. They fall asleep because they trust who is driving. A mind that has stopped fighting what is real can finally rest.

A Question to Sit With

What would it take for you to 'sleep in peace' — to stop fighting outcomes when your head hits the pillow?
