Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
From the beginning and through the ages, the humble devotees have been Your servants; in a corrupt world, You are their support.
Nanak longs for the dust of their feet; the One is the Giver of all.
You're not the first or alone — you join a long line of the held, devotees supported across every age.
The close grounds trust in a long history — "since the very beginning, and throughout the ages, the humble devotees have been Your servants." The devotee joins a lineage stretching across time; he is not alone or first. And in "the world of corruption," the One is their steady "Support." You stand in a long line of the held.
A Question to Sit With
Does it steady you to know countless others, across time, have leaned where you're leaning?
