Every Good Thing Came Through the One, Even Your Body

ਹਭਿ ਰੰਗ ਮਾਣਹਿ ਜਿਸੁ ਸੰਗਿ ਤੈ ਸਿਉ ਲਾਈਐ ਨੇਹੁ ॥
habh rang maaneh jis sang tai si-o laa-ee-ai nayhu.
Love Him, with whom you enjoy all pleasures.

so saho bind na visra-o naanak jin sundar rachi-aa dayh. ||2||
Do not forget that Lord, even for an instant; O Nanak, He fashioned this beautiful body. ||2||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Love the One through whom you enjoy every good thing.

Do not forget that One even for a moment, Nanak; it shaped this beautiful body.

Every good thing you've ever enjoyed came through the One — even your own body, which you did nothing to earn. Noticing that turns naturally into love and remembering.
The deeper layer

A simple logic of gratitude: love the One "through whom you enjoy all pleasures." Every good thing you have ever enjoyed came through the One — so the natural response is love, and not forgetting. And the specific gift named is your own "beautiful body" — the remarkable instrument of a human life, itself a gift you did nothing to earn. Guru Arjan keeps the gratitude concrete: not abstract thankfulness, but noticing that this — your body, your enjoyments, your very capacity for pleasure — all came as gift.

A Question to Sit With

What good things in your life did you not actually earn — that simply came to you as gifts? How does noticing them feel?
