Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Remembering the Naam, the mind finds peace.

Meet with holy people and sing the praises of the One.

Remembering what you love quietly calms the mind.
The deeper layer

Remembering the Naam brings peace to the mind, and singing with holy people adds to it.

This is the rahaa-o, the "pause" line, the center of the shabad. Simrat naam maneh sukh paa-ee-ai: remembering the Naam, the mind finds peace. SaaDh janaa mil: meeting holy people. Har jas gaa-ee-ai: singing the One's praises.

Think of humming a favorite song with friends. Your shoulders drop, and the day feels lighter.

A Question to Sit With

What is something you can bring to mind that makes you feel calm?
