The faithless cynic does not submit to the True Guru; the Lord makes the non-believer wander in confusion.

The waves of greed are like packs of dogs. The poison of Maya sticks to the body-skeleton. ||7||

In plain words

The one who turns away does not take the True Guru as Guru. With their face turned away, the One lets them wander, lost and confused.

Waves of greed keep them company, like a pack of dogs. The poison of Maya sticks to them, right down to the bones.

Turning away from the Guru, the mind wanders, chased by greed.
The deeper layer

Turning away from the Guru leaves you wandering, chased by greed and stuck in the poison of Maya.

Saakat: one who turns away from the One and the Guru. Baymukh: with the face turned away. Lobh lahar: waves of greed, coming again and again. Su-aan kee sangat: the company of dogs, always hungry, always barking. Bikh maa-i-aa: the poison of Maya, the pull of passing things. Karang: the skeleton, the whole frame of the body.

A Question to Sit With

When you have drifted from something good, what helps you find your way back?
